The answer is: You stop smoking when you feel you can no longer enjoy it.
On some cigars you will learn that burning past the band creates a harsh hot smoke. On the other hand some cigars can burn all the way down to your fingers and give you total joy.
So experiment with each cigar and see what you come up with!

so when the ash gets close to the band should u just end the cigar or slide back/takeoff the band.
